435i F33 Convertible - No manual transmission for USA?

A friend of mine is looking into ordering a 435i vert (F33) with M Sport and a manual transmission. I referred him to the CA I used, as he was great to deal with on my Euro delivery order. The CA emailed today and said that due to the low sales rate of 335i convertibles with manuals, BMW may not offer it as an option on the 435i convertibles.

My friend may have to go for a 335i vert, but the time slot is closing fast. He could wait for a M4 vert, as surely BMW won't drop the manual for it, lest they upset the faithful.

Has anyone heard anything on this?

Did you ever get confirmation that a manual F33 435i won't be available in the states? This is the first I have heard and I will be completely devastated. I will only by manual transmission cars and my options are getting more limited with each passing day. Further, did they say anything about the 428i F33? I would rather drop down to the 428i convertible over a automatic 435i

We haven't recieved anything from BMW on the convertibles yet, but your CA is right, it certainly is possible. I think they will still offer a manual

Its too bad. Fewer and fewer of us still enjoy shifting ourselves. Porsches biggest seller is Carrera 4s Cab with PDK! Ferrari....no a/t etc etc. I read on another thread that RWD is only produced in small numbers starting in FEB! That for Canada.

I spoke with my agent today and he noted that he hasn't heard one way or another. He is usually in the know, so I am holding out hope. It is is the the 435i manual for me or I am back to the beyond empty drawing board.

I'm back to the drawing board

After finally selecting a car after several years of research, I'm back to the drawing board. I was sold on the 435i M-Sport Convertible. This, of course, was based on the assumption that it would be offered in a manual transmission. While I haven't seen the official word, MSN is now claiming that it will only be offered as an automatic. I'm now going to reconsider BMW as a whole. I'm so disappointed.

At launch during the first quarter of 2014, you can have either engine with rear-wheel drive, although all-wheel drive will be available later on the 428i. No matter the engine or the drive choice, though, you’ll be opting for an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Disappointing, but what are you going to do. At the end of the day the F33 is a niche product, and they probably did the math and realized only 12 people in America were going to buy them with a manual transmission. It's just unfortunate if you were one of those 12 people.

You can join the ranks of disappointed people who didn't get a 335D, 335i F31, 6 Spd 328d, or some of the other "enthusiast" permutations that make forum people sad.
