Delivery date confirmed, the count down begins

I wouldn't normally start a thread for a new car but given that is not an xDrive or a 335d and it's a slightly brave spec I thought it might be of interest.

After spending literally 12 months deciding what to replace my SLK CDi with when the lease comes to an end I finally decided on an F31 330d sDrive after toying with buying a hot hatch. The SLK was picked up on a very good lease offer but came from stock and wasn't in my ideal spec so I made sure that wasn't going to happen again.

My F31 is another lease because at the time of order a 20% discount was necessary to make BMW Select work, spec as follows...

Estoril Blue
Venetian Beige
Burr Walnut with chrome
Msport Plus
Pro Nav
Heated front seats
Adaptive suspension

Delivery next Thursday with pics to follow.

Walnut and chrome? That is brave.

I'm presuming your slk was a 250 (as I have never seen a 350)
Anyway, coming from a Mercedes 250 engined c class I can tell you that you are in for a treat with the 330. It will be world's apart from the merc.
You made the right choice not getting the hot hatch.

Is that adaptive lights or suspension you ordered?

My brother has an SLK250 CDI Sport on one of those lease deals, amazing value.

Yeah it was the 250 CDI on one of the great lease deals, it was a good car but it never really felt that special. The 4 pot diesel didn't really help things as whilst it had a decent amount of poke and was very economical (49mpg over 24k) it really did sound like a bag of spanners at idle and the gearbox wasn't a fantastic match when you wanted to make progress.

A huge amount of time has been invested (wasted) in choosing the F31 so I hope it lives up to expectations.

That's very nice indeed. Nice to see that paint/interior combination as that's what I've ordered too.

I've never been a fan of beige interior or wood to be honest, never mind combining with chrome!

But I have to say - it works - well done for the foresight and congratulations on another stunning car...

..I like the neighbours Mk1 Golf too

I think the beige looks great. I'm slightly antsy ordering it as I have two young nippers who enjoy nothing more than making a mess in my car! I have to say though, all the fingerprints are always of a paler shade which makes me think beige might actually hide it better! I think the muddy feet may be more of a problem...

Is the boot beige also?

I'm loving the car so far, the engine and gearbox make wafting along to work so relaxing and with a sensible right foot I have averaged 46mpg over the first tank when I would only have seen about 50mpg from the SLK which is nowhere as nice to drive. Part of me keeps looking at those 335d's being delivered but there is something about mine being rwd and on the proper MSport adaptive.

The boot carpet is beige but a genuine boot liner is on the Christmas list which will help when the dog goes in the back.

Estoril Blue and the beige leather were a brave choice but I couldn't be happier with the choice, I really don't like all black interiors despite only being 30 ;-)
