428i vs 328i Estoril Blue M Sports (Now with profile shots!)

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
2013-12-08 UPDATE

Got a lot of feedback asking for some profile shots of the cars so here they are.
I think it's easy to say the cars look alike when my shots were mostly of the front/back and the M-sport bumpers aren't too different so maybe these will change some minds.

Also a quick comparison pic between the Xenons on the F30 and the LED headlights on the F32. Lowbeams are on for both.

</UPDATE>

I recently got a Estoril Blue 428i and haven't sold my previous car yet.
I took the older car in for service and they gave me... an Estoril Blue 328i loaner.

Therefore, comparison time!

I think I like the F30 bumper a little more, particularly the sharper angle/drop adjacent to the center opening.

The rear bumper on the F32 is much rounder.

Slightly due to perspective/angle, but the F32 is noticeably longer.

The loaner came with gloss black kidney grilles. Can't say I'm a fan on this color...

Angle again, but you can see how the F32 is shorter (vertically) and rounder.

From other side. (Excuse the weird HDR-ness of this picture)

The other significant difference with the front bumper is that the F32 has those slits on the sides. If someone has a better name for this please let me know. (God I hate those side markers)

I should note that the interior on both cars are exactly the same.

Overall, it looks every much as different from the sedan like the e92 did from the e90. All in all, I'm very happy with the F32.

Wow, great pictures! Thanks for sharing this comparison!

I prefer your F32 over the F30. It looks amazing! I also prefer the silver kidneys over the black ones on the F30..

I think the word you were looking for is air curtain. Could be wrong.

Also can't say I'm a fan of the scuff marks on the F30's bumper. That's sad. I know, I know. It's a loaner, but still...

1) That's a sweet loaner car! Too bad about the bumper damage...
2) Congrats on the new F32.. looks gorgeous!
3) Thanks for sharing the comparison photos. It's pretty powerful to compare the two side-by-side in M Sport + Estoril. The F32 is a lot more aggressive looking, as it should be!

I agree. The F32 M Sport bumper, while far better looking than the other F32 bumpers, still doesn't look quite as purposeful as the F30s. There's just some weirdness to it. I also prefer the new M235i's, it looks like they took the F32 M Sport bumper, spent some time redesigning it and did it right.

Other than that, everything else on the F32 is sportier, sleeker, and more aggressive than the F30. The wider hips and far lower roofline are so obvious in those pictures.

The 328i looks fantastic, and I agree that the 3 series m sport bumper is slightly more aggressive looking. Overall though, the 4 series looks better IMO...wider and lower stance, much better and more aggressive rear bumper, and an incredible side profile as well...the 5th pic is a KO for the f32. Also, I like the black kidney grills better than the chrome, I replaced my kidneys with the black ones a week after I got my car. I definitely had e92 envy when I had my e90 because the e92 was so much better looking, this time around the looks are much closer between the coupe and sedan.

Great shots, thanks for sharing.
I like the 4er but I have new-found love for the 3er as the sharper bodywork especially the rear give it a much more purposeful & powerful look to it.

Purposeful? Doesn't the 4 have a wider more aggressive rear? I suppose you mean the purpose of the 3er as a grocery getter? If that is what you mean, then I apologize for bringing this up, don't think many of your 3er bretheren appreciate this stance though

The two cars are nearly identical in length, I think it.s 185.x vs 186" or something, so the difference you are seeing is angles and how they are parked.

The only dimension that really separates the two is height, which is about 2".

Let me start of by saying, thank you for those great comparison pictures.

The msport f30 & f32 are just beautiful.

My take;

I slightly prefer the f30 msport front over front msport f32.
I slightly prefer the F32 msport rear over rear msport f30/

Coming from a coupe to a sedan, will miss the sportier look of the coupe, but welcome the practicallity of the sedan

Lovely pictures.

No I got my car from McKenna. The loaner is from New Century. They're pretty good and the loaners are unmarked.
