Gotta be honest, the more pictures I see, the less i get this car. With the e9x sedan/coupe it always made sense to me that the M3 sedan got the nose of the coupe (i.e. sportier). But the 4 Gran Coupe looks like more of a hybrid of the GT (least sporty) and the 4 Series (most sporty) rather than a sportier version of the 3 series. To me it would have made more sense to give the M3 sedan some of the 4 series styling cues/nose and kept with that methodology.

I guess if they feel they can sell enough of these at a premium over the 3 series thats all that matters, but I just dont think its different enough from a 3 series to warrant the premium over the 3 series and I dont think its convincingly coupe-enough to draw 4 series buyers who want more utility. I absolutely think it works with the 6 Gran Coupe, but I am just not feeling it here.

I don't understand it. BMW first announced they were revising the model numbers so coupes were even numbers and sedans were odd numbers because they felt consumers were confused. Now they do this and introduce sedans in the even numbers. Being a product manager myself and always looking to simplify a line for a consumer to understand a line structure, this is like the ultimate sin of product management. Just when you thought they understood, they do this. Makes you wonder how unintelligent their PMs and marketing people really are.

I do agree 4 door 4 series is a stupid marketing joke, but I do think this looks the best looking sedan BMW has made since E46 3 series.

I don't get this car or why BMW is producing it. I even think the F30 looks better in the side by side pics.

The front three quarters of this car are gorgeous. The fat rear kills it for me.

Why oh why didn't you give this a standard trunk a la the 6GC, BMW?

Why all the hatchback hate in the English speaking world? I'm not a convertible person at all, but I don't go to convertible threads and bash convertibles. They are not my scene, but clearly there is a market for them. And I think it is great that people that want such cars can buy them. There are almost no rear drive hatchbacks available. What is wrong for people who want a rear drive hatchback to finally be able to buy one?

Just looks awkward to me... Regular sedan looks a heck of a lot better. Seems like an identity crisis here.

I don't get this car. It certainly looks better than 3GT, but still very weird looking. BMW is trying too hard to imitate Audi. And what is this hideous looking car in the pictures (218 Active Tourer)?

I think it looks great! Side-by-side with the F30 and the F30 looks old and boxy. In isolation though they look pretty much the same.

I was going to get a compact SUV for the flexible boot space but the 4GC lets me have a stylish AND practical car. Importantly not as ugly as the 3GT

The overwhelming reaction to the 4GC is "I don't get it" which to me indicates that it's a niche car that most people simply don't need. For those of us that don't want to sacrifice style or practicality however, it's a godsend. Mine goes into production this month for delivery in May

I like the fron 4/5ths of the car. The rear hatch can go in my opinion.
