question about Eco-pro

Hi, Chicago had a harsh winter this season and when I commute on the highway with the eco-pro mode on for the 20 miles oneway trip, the mileage savings had been negligible- ranging usually from 0.1 to 0.3 miles.

Today, when the temperature was over 50F, the computer says my mileage savings was 4.1 miles on the 20 mile trip. The heater was still on and the oil temp guage hit the hash mark between the 160f and 250f, which during the cold temps, it rarely hit.

Would the heater working less and higher optimum engine temp contribute that much of a fuel savings?

Extreme cold really makes in impact on MPG. I read something, a few years back so I can't officially quote it, that said when temps dip to around 0* you can see over 10% loss of efficiency. I do think that you get optimal MPG when the engine as at normal operating temps so I think that all plays in to the diff you are seeing.

I know form personal experience in the summer I was getting 28MPG on my commute to work and this winter I have been consistently getting 25ish
