According to Automotive News, the BMW X7 will be one of the significant announcements at the Spartanburg press event scheduled for March 28.

The Wall Street Journal, citing sources, reported late yesterday that BMW will spend several hundred million dollars to expand the plant to build the three-row seven-seat X7.

Construction at the plant would boost production levels to 400,000 vehicles annually, says Automotive News. It is currently being expanded to build 350,000 a year.

After the X4 goes into production, the X7 will represent the fifth vehicle to be built at Spartanburg (joining the X3, X4, X5 ad X6). Roughly half of the X models currently built are exported to more than 130 countries.

This would be a cash-cow for BMW. It would be a nice alternative to the "lesser" non-luxury three rowed vehicles for people who don't want an american SUV or one of the bigger Japanese ones. Then theres the fact that it can compete with the Mercedes GL-class and the Q7.

what took them this long? Better late than never. I think this is a step in the right direction as all the other luxury brands have a three row SUV in their lineup.

finally!

I hope the profoundness of the X5 will live on.

With Mercedes the ML was amazing, then the GL came and I feel like the ML was pushed off.
The G wagen, is on a different level.

They will build even a school bus before a supercar it seems. Not saying i dislike the X7, because we all know there is a stabilished market for it, but take for example that 2 series minivan. They rather build a freaking minivan instead of a proper supercar..maybe they cant build one as good as the competition so they rather not try at all haha. And dont come with i8 talk.
