I can't just drop it and slam the hood down like on every other car I've ever owned. I have to push it down on the emblem and hold it to get it to engage the lock. Then when I was driving to the dealer to have them fix my squeeking brakes (again) the hood popped open on the freeway.
I informed the dealer I wasn't thrilled about the hood latch issue and they looked into it. Per the maintenance paperwork it says they oiled the latching mechanism. Not sure how that will help but it hasn't had any issues since.

Mine does exactly this. Thanks for the info, I'll try some proper oil (only tried wd40 so far)
