I have them, I should know.
Indeed it took me getting the M Performance brakes, installing my summer tires, and sitting with the old brakes, to sort this out...

ALL US 335i's have 4 pistons up front.
2 pistons for M sport and Sliding setup for rear.

The US M Performance is a step up from the regular 335i setup because:
1. Pad's are wider/larger.
2. Brake swept area is wider/larger.
3. Rotors up front and out back are larger.

I sincerely apologize for any confusion and misinformation I may have caused, it's REALLY bad how you have to literally take everything apart yourself and look at it to verify.
