Absolutely insane that this is a known issue and only effect certain cars same exact failure.
I know many people have wonderful experiences with BMW, but this will prob be the first and the last unless the dealer can work something out which is highly unlikely.

Time for engine swap ? Just throw a LS in it. Or drop a hellcat engine in it and make enough from youtube monetization to pay for the whole thing like some people are doing now.
