i have a 245/255 18" setup on my car. although i don't have any canyon to carve (here on oahu) i can tell you it's way better. where 225's start scrubbing in a fast corner the 245 stays on the line longer and the trajectory of the car seems more balanced. while 245 is less understeer than a 225, it'll still be understeer at the limit.
i hear ya, tho. stay with what you're comfy with. more understeer is definitely safer albeit a bit slower.
