Ok, have tried once again and it works !
So the two points are that CIC needs to be restarted for services to take effect, and secondly mileage must be entered as km even for a UK car
Thanks BimmerSI you gave me the confidence to give it a go and now I have the non-BMW services recorded on my idrive
