BMW Marketing. They want us to buy the 328 and not so the 335i. It's cheaper better MPG(that we already knew) but it's almost as fast(maybe) and has a tad better handling(here the marketing comes in sort of) . The fact carmags/journalist(bribed
) find the 328 in a way a better car means:Voila the 328 is going to sell better than the way too(exaggerating a bit) expensive 335.
BMW selling more of those greener 328s and less 335s is better in the long run, environementally/politically and governmentally, BMW is thinking into the future, the future is: Small(er) powerful better MPG 'green'engines:N20 =winner, the N55 loser.
