I managed to get mine out! Turns out I'm and idiot and was pressing on the lip of the ball joint itself instead of on the knuckle... once I used a bigger cup to brace against the knuckle it broke free and it was out in less than a minute.
Now to get the new one back in... I put the new one in the freezer and hopefully that makes it a bit easier to press in.
Oh by the way, the dealer wanted $1100 for the ball joint service. I said give me my car back lol.
