awesome grip, doesn't fade away when it gets hot like the RE71...doesn't last long though and they are pricey.
you can comfortably go with a 255 wide on a 9" wheel. for dual duty, I would recommend a Hankook RS4 if you care about performance. if you care about value, the indy500 is great performer for the money. you won't win any races with the latter but it will hold its own.
keep in mind that 18x9 ET30 with a 255/40 will be close to the fender in the rear. that setup is taller than stock so you may need to camber in the rear wheels a bit.
