I think if BMW could, they would have changed the way the pre-LCI E90 looked. I know there were a lot of people were not pleased with the design (specifically the rear) especially being a successor to the E46. The LCI fixed a lot of things and improved the look to a lot of people. Perhaps that was the reason why it was such a significant update. Maybe or maybe not.

I actually like the pre-LCI E90 taillights better. I didn't like the LCI version, looked off to me.
