It is a piss take. Can only assume the government wants to be seen to be giving the posh kids a spanking for being flash -yet helping the average Joe by letting go of the higher rate after 5 years.
Going to really hit JLR - do they do many sub 40k cars ?
Wish they would just reduce the basic price now and sod the silly discounting.
