A matching spare is more like 50 pounds, and is nearly twice as wide as a compact spare, so on those long trips where you don't want to be without a spare you're losing a lot of luggage space. The compact spare is around 30 pounds. It's also ludicrously expensive, but that's the BMW tax for you.
