The 340i's power is impressive. The MPE-only adds no more power, according to BMW. The sound is very subjective. If you're in to this kind of sound, the MPE is excellent. I have a cold-start video in another thread, if want to hear that.
Also, I'm still on skinny snow tires and still in the break-in period. So, there's no full throttle or downshifting sound I've heard firsthand while in the cabin.
However, a CA at my dealer also has a 340i with the MPE. From the outside, the mid-RPM downshifting has a satisfying burble-backfire sound. I have yet to hear--in person--full-throttle acceleration from outside a 340i MPE.
