Man, I'd be livid. N20 timing chains failing is a known issue with these engines, which BMW is fully aware of, and they are not taking responsibility for -- on a car that only has a little over 100K? Not cool.
So, they want YOU to pay $11,000 for THEIR negligent engineering and deficient testing efforts, which they are fully aware is 100% their fault? Yeah, that would be my last BMW, for sure. There's absolutely no accountability there -- totally unethical.
