This is what I was looking for. I believed that there was some stream or function of streams that would indicate something is wrong with input from the sensor. From the docs it did say when the sensor fails the DME falls back to a constant value as a failsafe or something or other. Cool!
if its just the heater the sensor may be work but they need to be at a certain operating temp to work properly. so it may or may bit be using the values it sees for a longer period of time or if even at all.

so it didn't matter if the log showed anything, it needs to be replaced.
