BMW may, or may not sell you a "6NR BMW Apps Retrofit". It depends really on the car's build date and equipment. If they do, and they performed the official retrofit, they would program (not code) the car accordingly. You of course will pay considerably more to have them do it then if you did the work yourself.

And in cases where you cannot get official "6NR BMW Apps Retrofit", you can usually obtain the FSC Code from various sellers, and perform an "unofficial "6NR BMW Apps Retrofit".

So, you do it yourself to either save money, or out of necessity when you can't get an official "6NR BMW Apps Retrofit".
