How to: TorqByte CM5-LT Meth System Install

This system is not yet too common on BMW’s yet and seems to be one of the best option if not going JB4. Therefore I decided to make a post about it. This took a good amount planning and harassing both TorqByte and PTF more than I’d like to admit. Both were beyond helpful along the entire way and went way above and beyond to assist with the set up. I’m still working on a boost cut failsafe that involves a relay to interrupt/cut the signal to the OEM EWG harness when there is a meth flow issue. I just don’t have that worked out yet. I’m open to ideas and suggestions.

I will also eventually be going to port injection, but wanted to start small. Currently starting with one small 3gph nozzle on 100% meth and will add another small one when tuning progresses.

***EDIT***

I have to redo some of my looms because my OBD port does not have 12v IGN/ACC pin in it for my OBD plug. I will loom that wire in with my GPO1 wire to my engine compartment fuse box for 12v IGN/ACC and relay location. Will post updates when I have time when I come back from my business trip to redo it. I will also add to my post how to do the boost cut using the pump current draw, flow sensor and utilizing the BMS EWG harness to avoid any splicing!

This is my list. Yours may vary.

First I started by cleaning up the wiring harnesses with Tech Flex and heat shrink. All of the harnesses came with individual wires coming out of every plug. My OCD would not allow me to install it like this...

Connected the OBD harness to the correct wires from the main input harness. Also capped off every wire that was unused with terminal caps. The unit comes with its own MAP sensor. I decided to tap my TMAP sensor for vac/boost signal, so I cut the torqbyte MAP sensor plug off of the wires (black, blue and red) from the main input harness.

Decided to put the CM5-LT unit in the passenger footwell. Ran power wires from the battery to the front, removed the passenger side door trim and ran the main AC and pump wire looms in there. Power wires went to the front to the CM5 and pump wires ran from the CM5 back to the pump. Power wires connected to battery and battery ground on chassis.

Ran nylon tubing from the pump along the driver side of the car. Removed all interior door trim panels to tuck it inside the carpeting.

The MAP sensor harness ran from an opening under the dash to the driver side of the car. Pulled that through and then both that and the fees tube pulled through a hole in the firewall just above the dead pedal foot rest. I had to pop a grommet out of the hole in order to do so.

I then used the Posi Taps to connect the MAP signal wire (blue) to the signal wire (yellow) of the TMAP sensor. CM5 Ground wire (black) connects to TMAP ground (black and yellow). CM5 red power wire got capped off.

I then found this handy hose clamp that was sitting empty in a handy spot right next to the charge pipe ports. I zip tied the check valve there and finished running the lines.

In order for you to use your OEM 2.5bar TMAP sensor your need some data. Being on BM3 I signed up to be a tuner so I could get into my stock tune file. All of the data needed is under sensors. This is the data needed: min voltage, max voltage, gradient, and offset. Your numbers may/will differ!

That data needs to translate to this:

This is how:

For the 3.5bar sensor this is how:
