Not really... the RS3 and Jetta share the same MQB platform (with a shit ton of other cars if I'm honest). The
A3 and Jetta are essentially the same car with a different badge. The base A3 is a top of the line Jetta GLI in terms of drivetrain and options. The Jetta to RS3 analogy works best in BMW terms by comparing a 320i to an M3. Certainly not the same car, but definitely related.
Also note that my comment was mostly tongue-in-cheek.
