Update files are contained on USB Memory stick, plug into USB port in center console
Only way I've ever done my Nav updates - didn't even know they had a DVD version...
If you buy update from BMW you will also need to purchase the license key. Vin Coded FSC Code required
You can buy as a combo deal with USB stick+Code for $116, or if you already have an FSC code the memory stick alone is $41

The 1 time FSC code will allow for a single update. The 2 year FSC code will be valid for the next 24 months and would only require a new USB media stick should a new update be released in that time frame. To install, plug the USB Media stick into the vehicle and input the FSC code. All MY16+ (Start of production: 7/2015+) vehicles come with a 3-year FSC code activation from the factory.
