Yes, we did exactly the same except that we had complete upholstery including heating elements. (the elements are stitched to the upholstery).
To tear down and reassemble the seat is not complicated if you know what to do, but it takes time.
By the way, do you have on both sides seat modules? In our case we had it only on the drivers side (el. + memory seat). The passengers seat was only electric without memory and had no module at all, thus no wiring (CAN bus) etc.
