Yeah man - you can get a 5.3L LS truck engine for $100 from a U-Pull-It scrap yard too you just need to go lay in the dirt and deal with it. That's not the point. Look on eBay for "Completed Sales" - this is 2019, the world of analytics - you're an automation engineer simple scripts out there to inventory all of CL, eBay, etc., all in one pane of glass. Point is, it took me all of 20 secs to go on eBay and list you a $300+ used cat on eBay that was purchased 20 days ago. There are more than that.



You can literally buy an aftermarket unit with the money you would have got for your stocker. It sounds like this is your first time doing this catalytic thing by your opening post - I've been working on BMWs for about 15 years. I don't care how common a 3-series is, the cat lists for an insane MSRP new and thus the use market is expensive, too. That's how economics works.
