Not sure if adding a filter to the return line would hurt anything with the restriction, but it certainly would be nice to save half the fuel system when the HPFP goes. If we had the CP4.2 style pump I would think it would be fairly easy to use one of the "disaster prevention kits" available for diesel trucks and modify it to connect to the BMW plumbing. I have not seen any kits for the CP4.1 pump though.
