1. Disagree. I went and looked at both side-by-side in full sun on a clear, blue sky day and you can tell the difference. To pick a reference point, use the lines of the hood or the side of the wheel arches.

2. Looked at them at night too, under white street lights. Both looked white.

3. Not as well, but when you're as critical as I am you'll notice it on any colour.

4. Agree. Horses for courses.

You've got it easy where you're from. Down Under a metallic paint is about a $1,200 option before taxes (which can add another ~36% to the price depending on the total cost of the car).
