What dash cam you go for? I hard wired a D650s 2ch with cellink B battery. It was very easy with the BMW fuse board being so easy to access in the boot.
I read your update about the LTE being switched by ignition, would be handy for the cloud functionality of a dash cam. Maybe it's something that could be bypassed/coded?.

Not a fan of HUD, I find my contact lenses go funny when looking through something like the screen.
I have the DR650 2ch also, albeit just one channel is up and running at the moment.
Its possible to perhaps code it to be on all the time but depends which live its fed from on the circuits. Instead i have bought a 12gb 3 simcard and a 4g 12v Router for the car that will be wired into the same multisafer unit - ergo it will be on all the time the camera is - this should allow cloud access when needed.
The onward subscription of LTE is a tad cheeky too, at £11 a month for 1gb!
Tempted to open the box and see if the sim card really is "fixed" or not.
still nice first world problems to have.
