Thanks for the replies. I had hoped to keep this car maintained entirely by the dealer - we bought an 8 year / 80k mile service pack with it. I accept that labour will make up a fair chunk of the costs, but the same dealer will replace front pads on the previous model of Mini for £115, so £190 still feels high for such small brakes. I am prepared to pay a premium to the dealer, to keep responsibility for the car in one place, but thought this seemed excessive.
I tend not to bother with DIY on our cars. Firstly I don't know how to replace the pads, and I have no particular desire to learn. If it's a quick and easy job then perhaps I should learn, particularly if it saves £150.
