Furthermore, apart from those doors, the very advanced (for the time) bodywork materials and advanced integrated aerodynamics, I believe BMW was also awarded a large number of patents on the Z1, including for HID headlamps and integral roll-over protection. It makes a Z3 look prehistoric.
