Are you using the BMW built-in antenna? In that case, try with a splitter and connect both the oem HU and Android to the antenna. If you are using a splitter already, then disconnect this from the HU ... You need to try different approaches.
If you are using the antenna you got with the unit, try relocating it to get better reception.

I have no built-in antenna, with it signal would be very fast. Do you also have a PX6 unit with aftermarket antenna, how long does it take for you? I relocated it many times, no difference.
