You're confusing the issue. Coding tells the car the Ah capacity of the battery you're installing, so that it neither under or overcharges it. Registering tells the car that it's a new battery, so that it doesn't over charge it when new nor under charge it as it ages, whatever its Ah capacity may be. Two different procedures that serve two related but nonetheless independent functions.
