Only under conditions where the non-X is traction limited. Another issue is the increased understeer of the X, especially under sharp, high speed cornering (the 200+ lbs. extra weight is in the front, the 3-Series X is unlikely to have the X6's torque vectoring). The understeer also increases as torque is transferred to the front; that is, whenever the Xdrive system is active.

The X is for snow and ice, a role it plays wonderfully.
