But the other thing that bugs me about this.....shouldn't the BMW dealership reinstall Dinan software (if it were a flash tune for example) if it were to be erased as part of their updates? My local BMW dealership mentioned that they accidentally erased someone's Dinan tune once and had to put it back on for the customer.

Not all dealers are Dinan dealers. Ones that aren't don't have access to the Dinan software or tunes.
