I have same as you comfort access. There are three ways to open the trunk.
1- with all car doors unlocked you open by the button in the trunk Handel above the number plate , you need to press it in hard
2- you kick your foot under the car in the middle and then out, try to have your foot close to the bumper
3- remote key button to open the trunk
In 2 and three the car doors can be Locked or unlocked and in the comfort access your key remote must be in your pocket or hand
Now since it's working with remote then it looks like there is nothing wrong with your locking and unlocking mechanism.
My only guess if it's not working using the Handel or comfort access assuming you are doing it correctly is that they use a different signal than the remote to open the trunck lock
Your only option is to take it to Bavaria unfortunately
