That surely must be
daytime running lights (DRL), not the full headlights? All cars produced in Europe the last 20-30 years or so, have automatic DRL, which is specially designed for use during daylight. Android does not dim when DRL is on. Cars with also automatic headlights might turn on too early and dim the unit, the sensitivity might be possible to program with Carly or other means.
