As per Tire Rack

"The Blizzak WS80 is Bridgestone's Studless Ice & Snow winter tire developed for compact, coupe, sedan and minivan drivers looking to power through winter with confident control. When winter driving conditions are at their worst, Bridgestone's Blizzak WS80 winter tires are designed to be at their best."

"The Blizzak LM001 is Bridgestone's Performance Winter / Snow tire designed for the drivers of sports cars, sporty coupes and performance sedans looking to maintain their vehicle's appearance, handling and mobility during the winter months by providing traction on cold, dry, wet and snow-covered roads."

When I first bought winter tires, I did a square setup with the 225/45-18 WS80's. I had a 435i (non X-Drive) and wet/dry traction was horrible. The next year i put the LM001 255's on the rear which help traction greatly.

The WS80's are an excellent snow tire but marginal performance tire. The LM001's are still a very good snow tire and much better in regards to wet/dry performance.
