I've had the DMS map on my 30d since September last year. The car has done about 15K miles since then (80K on the odometer now) and a couple of EVO track evenings when things obviously get pushed pretty hard. Zero problems thus far and the engine runs smoothly.
I always use BP Ultimate and Millers Oils additive, every tank, on the assumption that this will keep the engine internals as clean as possible as well as benefitting from the Cetane boost.
The only dip in fuel efficiency (~3mpg) was when BMW applied a software update without my permission (the DMS map had to be re-applied) presumably as an 'under the radar' diesel-gate emissions adjustment.
