Some of the locking features must be market specific. Here in the UK we have the options in iDrive, (no need to code), just select how we want the locking to function. I choose to use 'double pull' unlocking while the engine is running and 'auto' unlock when switching off.

One of the other points raised by the OP, is about switching off. My BMW kills everything, simply by pushing the start-stop button a second time. Again gives the option to leave the radio on when I switch off the engine, or switch off everything. Regardless of whether the door is opened, or I have to lock the car to switch the electrical services off.
