Funny I got the idea from tracking my MKV GTI! I did leave the front part of the shield because it has a scoop to draw air from the brake ducts built into the front bumper. My feeling was that the benefit of that scoop outweighed the risk of retaining heat there.

What I want to do is modify the OEM brake ducts to route air more directly and continuously to the back of the rotors. There is just so little clearance between the tire and fender liner that it is tough to engineer.
