From what I could tell, the SCR sprayer (the module) itself can be removed but you'll need a special tool for 3 of the screws. I've read that folks have removed it, cleaned up the spray ports of accumulated crystalized DEF and continue using it with no faults.

However, other than directly testing ohm/resistance of the plug and comparing to known values, it would be impossible to tell whether the module heating element has failed or whether the line has a break in it somewhere.

FWIW, when I had the X3 in at the dealer for recall work, they quoted me around $1200 to replace the line, based on the error code I had (your last code). It appears they would replace the line and not the module, unless the line turned out not to be the problem after all.
