In think, in theory at least, you shorten their life adaptive or not, as their travel will be forcefully shortened with lowering springs. That's why the ideal solution is to change the dampers as well to match, the springs.
Also, i don't think changing the springs on adaptive vs non-adaptive makes any difference to any warranty problems.
