They add it for people who don't know how to drive manuals properly
... I did read they added it in years ago when they were covering clutches as part of maintenance or warranties at the time so it would help minimize clutch riding and slipping and in essence help them have longer life span. If you are properly driving manual, it has no negative impacts on the clutch.
