I think ‘mileage correction’ is quite commonplace. I used to get a car to work in London from the same firm every day for a few years. They had a fleet of E Class Mercs and one day I spotted the one year old car I was in had done just 25k miles, despite being in use virtually 24 hours a day. I asked the driver who I knew quite well and he told me that their cars covered about 200-250k miles in 2 years and would then be returned to Mercedes with about 50k on the clock.
Quite impressive that the cars could pass for 50k miles after 4-5 times that use. I do feel a bit sorry for the next owner though.
