8.5" with 255 is just 5mm of bulge, it's virtually unnoticeable unless you compared it to a 9" side by side. i actually like the protection as well.

okay, between 8.5 +35 and 9" +35 and even 9.5" +35. the position of the tire is the same place on all three. the 8.5" will have a bulge, the 9" will be square, and the 9.5" would show a slight stretch. i wish i could draw it out.

i have not read where anyone rubbed with 255/40/18, +35 offset. if you were to go +28 the tire would probably rub the fenderwell liner during full lock turn
