in december, google maps led me down a paved highway onto a dirt / gravel road in remote southern new mexico. according to the map there was a road 10 miles further that i wrongly assumed was paved. the road went from gravel to rock - not golfball sized rock but softball sized rock. in some sections i was driving 3 mph over rocks and thought i may not make it. of course no cell service.
about 80 miles later i found pavement. i wanted to cry.
lesson learned: if you ever think maybe you should turn around and double back, ... yes, you should.
amazingly no damage to my 340.
and i had a full size spare, jack and wrench with me too, and plenty of water. would have been a looooong hike out.
