In theory no, for rear pdc it would just switch on when you put it in reverse, and turn off when you put it in drive and reach about 15-20 mph. The only downfall to not having the button would be that if you were trying to use it for "forward parking", you would have to put it in to reverse for a second first, then put it back into drive. Also, if you got both front and rear and didn't have the button, it would be obvious to the dealer that it had been added afterward.
