Yes, those red/black and brown wires are the power and ground. Since your steering column switch cluster has those and the pins in the connector location for the Heated Steering Wheel switch, I would say you could try doing the retrofit without replacing it first to see if it works, worst case scenario is that you would have to replace it. But maybe you'll get lucky and not have to. At least you don't have to run the extra wiring all the way to the FEM!
