Don't get me wrong. I'm absolutely not denying the benefits of dedicated snow tires. And you're right about the comparison with needing insurance. So there is a definite inherent risk in saying 'I don't need snow tires' that I'm aware of.
Having said that, I'll check with tirerack and see what they have to offer.
